What is the Startup Act?
The Startup Act is a Tunisian law enacted in April 2018 (law no. 2018-20) aimed at encouraging the creation and development of innovative startups in Tunisia. It is a pioneering initiative in the MENA region that has been internationally praised as a model of public policy in favour of innovation.
This law grants a set of tax, social and regulatory advantages to startups that obtain the Startup Act label after review of their application by a dedicated committee. The label is awarded to companies demonstrating an innovative character, strong growth potential and a scalable business model.
Since its implementation, the Startup Act has certified hundreds of Tunisian startups across various sectors: technology, healthcare, agriculture, finance, education and of course cartography and GIS, the sector in which MapWay operates.
